Cubs come back again
Second straight game that calls for
multiple haiku
–
Behind seven zip
It looked hopeless once again
But the Cubs fought back
–
Two solo home runs
Fifth frame Reed, Lee in the sixth
Then came inning eight
–
Four hits, a walk and
A Cleveland error later
Cubs score four – down one
–
Ninth inning home run
Lee’s second of today’s game
Sends it to extras
–
Tenth inning, two outs
Fonzie singles, steals and scores
On Ryan’s single
–
The Cardiac Cubs
Have returned to Wrigley Field
And it feels so good
[32-31]
June 18, 2009
Because I was there
I think today’s game deserves
Several haiku
–
Not much excitement
‘Til the bottom of the eighth
Two on and two out
–
Then, back-to-back jacks
First Derrek Lee’s three run shot
Next, Geo Soto
–
Suddenly, we’re tied
And the White Sox fans are shocked
Thought they had it won
–
Bottom of the ninth
Reed singles, moves to second
Still there with two outs
–
Then, Soriano
Bloops a single to right, and
Wrigley is rockin’
[31-31]
[thanks to Michael in Wheeling for the great last line]

After two days off
Were our Cubbies that bad, or
Was Danks just that good?
–
My silver lining?
John Danks is a pitcher on
My fantasy team
–
But – always a but
One of my other pitchers
Is Ryan Dempster
[30-31]

Tuesday night’s Cubs game
Postponed on account of rain
Third time this season
June 14, 2009
Ozzie Guillen says:
“I puke every time I go”
into Wrigley Field
—
He likes the players
The management and the fans
But not “the building”
—
Dear Ozzie Guillen:
I don’t hate Sox or their fans
Just their manager
June 14, 2009
Another close one
But the Cubs come out on top
Win it in the ninth
—
Three straight one base hits
From Lee, Soto, Theriot
Gets winning run home
[30-30]
June 14, 2009
Can Von Joshua
Get Cubs bats hitting again
When Perry could not?
June 13, 2009
Pitching remains good
Hitting remains anemic
Losses piling up
—
Cubs record slips to
Below five hundred again
Third time this season
[29-30]
June 12, 2009
Dear Milton Bradley:
Just in case you didn’t know
Three outs per inning
—
Not your fault Cubs lost
But that defensive “error”?
Inexcusable
—
And let’s not forget
Base running gaffe in the sixth
Ball lost in the sun
[29-29]
